It will always be hard there is no doubt about that. I have been doing okay on the food part of my life, but now it just finding the time to go and get some movement in. I am suppose to have a standing gym date with my friend at school but I have canceled due to procrastinating, and not getting my school work done. I can not stress how badly I want to look "fabulous" but I am getting in my way right now. I need the strength to push and do well. I know my friend is there saying hey lets go! But I need that extra push from myself. I need to hop back on the journey wagon. Its mid February.
Plan:
Wednesday- eat well and go to the WELL in the morning. Vegetarian day/ Fast (ash wednesday)
Thursday-Eat well, go for a walk?
Friday- Coffee and Sushi date with Kelci, Eat lightly (vegetarian day all fridays until Easter) Gym After swim work out.
Saturday-Work until 12, straight to the gym after followed by a light lunch
Sunday- Work and then Homework/Rest.
This may work or it very well may not work, but I know that I desperately want it to work.
The Journey We All Face at One Time or Another.

God Helped Me Part Waters This Morning
This morning I woke up at 6:30 and the first thing I thought of was: I get to go swimming today. I was at the gym by 7:30 am and in the pool by 7:45, getting in was amazing. I haven't swam since LAST January and I was soo happy swimming my first 150 yards. Then it hit me. I haven't swam since January.
I struggled around for maybe another 500 yards not being consistent in my stroke, and taking breaks every so often. I considered giving up and just going home. But then I thought I will feel like this a lot and I will not dare give up now. So I told my self to swim just 10 laps. It would be cake I just had to push through.
So I started swimming. Then I started praying. My prayers got me through 26 laps. I just kept praying, those prayers kept me focused and I truly believe God helped me swim those laps.
I plan on going back tomorrow morning to swim and I will enjoy it. I think the time I spend in water is the time I will spend with God. I guess if you look at it from a symbolic perspective I am being reborn. Therefore everyday I come out of the water I will be a new woman. A woman dedicated to a new lifestyle and a woman dedicated to straightening her relationship with God.

Food for MY thought.
These past few days have been rather productive. They have been productive because I have found GOOD food that is low in calories and an added plus: Vegetarian. I know I am not wanting to lean towards a vegetarian diet but the food I have been having...is well flavorful, colorful, and filling. For me this is very important because who wants to diet when you are starving all the time? I sure as hell don't.
Breakfast: The most important meal of the day. I haven't found too much variety, however I have found options with a lot less calories. OH and I work at Starbucks! So I am surrounded by coffee, frappuccinos, and the breakfast sandwiches, scones, muffins, fritters, and DO NOT get me started on croissants.
My "unfortunate" circumstances lead me to picking up nutrition pamphlets on both FOOD and Drinks. When you first open up the pamphlet Starbucks has conveniently place a 200 cal & 350 cal or less menu. II was very pleased to discover drinks I like and food I like are on both of the menus. I guess not surprisingly I didn't find my 3 grande vanilla latte, nor did I find the 500 calorie sausage&egg&cheddar cheese breakfast sandwich on the list.
What I did find was this:
Black coffee 5 (like a short coffee with 1.5 pumps of vanilla and a tad of breve before I start work)
Americanos 5,10,15,25 calories as each size progresses (sometimes I indulge with whipped cream: only 60 calories in a grande)
a Tall latte 150 calories (add a packet of splenda or sugar for near to nothing calories while also having it sweet and CALCIUM
Any Flavored syrup is 20calories PER pump. (in perspective: tall=3 pumps, Grande=4 pumps, Venti=5 pumps) sugar free is 0 calories.
Half and Half is like 35 calories per 2 TBSP.
My Spinach Feta wrap is only 280 calories
Oatmeal is only 140 calories (plain) add 100 calories for fruit or nuts, and brown sugar 50 calories
Yogurt (Strawberry& Blueberry W/ granola) 300 calories
^^I find that for me those are the most filling breakfasts.
There is also Any kind of bagel with NO cream cheese.
Croissants
A morning bun
ect. To me all of these are carbs and empty calories. I always recommend having something that will hold you over comfortably. Plus there is good protein and fiber in my favorite choices.
in perspective to calories when staying home my 1 egg, 1 whole wheat toast and Raspberry jam = 250 calories add some fruit for 50-100 calories. :)
Now lunch. :)
Yesterday I had a hummus, green bell pepper, and feta sandwich. Okay, vegetarian once again but it was SOO DELICIOUS.
This isn't an amazing calorie buy, 180 calories of whole wheat bread (2 slices toasted) 2TBSP of Sabra Garlic hummus 170 calories, green bell pepper, and Feta there wasn't a nutrition label but I am pretty sure it isn't too amazing calorie wise. HOWEVER. When you use feta you do not need that much because this cheese is very flavorful.
I like this alternative to plain turkey and bread. ( I am sure you can understand)
I also made a vegetable soup yesterday. This soup calls off for shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, 2 cans diced tomatoes, 1 can of green beans, 1 onion, 2 chicken stock cans, and 2 TBSP of tomato paste, and italian seasoning. I add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese on top for some added flavor. I really enjoyed this soup. It was flavorful and it served me as a good dinner.
OH and if you are in the mood for pure sweet goodness and have a craving for frappuccinos.... have a tall carmel frappuccino light. :) It is only 100 calories and leaves your sweet tooth tamed.
MY only struggle last night is when I came home from work at 9:30 I was hungry. I had some of what my grams made for dinner: a Turkey burger with reduced fat swiss cheese, on a smaller hamburger bun. (compared to the large almost palm sized buns)
My goal for late night work hunger is to find something to snack on because at that time of night all I crave is carbs.
So for anyone who took time to read this I hope you may have found something helpful, and if not thanks for reading.
OH and my swim suit came in today so plan A is to hit the gym with Sabrina do an hour of dry land and then an hour of swim workouts. I am wicked excited.

My Greatest Obstacle
So I would have to say the greatest obstacle I will have to overcome is dinner time at my house. I know how funny this seems, but when you live in a family of five, there is no menu variety. There is one dinner meal for everyone. Growing up my Grams has always said "This is not a restaurant" meaning we can't all make something different. I understand that but this is the greatest challenge for any dieters in a household like mine.
Never mind the fact that we are coming off of Christmas weekend.
Oh boy. When we make food at my house we have snacks from 12-2.
Shrimp, olives, salame, cheese, crackers, little smokies, bacon wrapped scallops, and champagne. Then an hour and a half later we have prime rib, mashed potatoes, cauliflower au gratin, green bean bundles, and yorkies. And dessert: the best cheesecake you will ever have... Loads of carbs, fat, protein, and even more carbs. o.o I am sure I am not alone because there is a reason why they call it "New Years Resolutions"
Well tonight we had left overs. Sure it wasn't as much as yesterday and I ate clean all day, so it is not the end of the world. Thats the thing about this whole situation. I will have slip ups, hopefully I will build up my will power. After I eat clean constantly for 21 days, it will make me sick to eat like we tend to do over the holidays.
I think the key to my family obstacle is portion control, pacing myself, and to enjoy what is on my plate. Not focus on what is left in the serving bowls, and another good one will be to eat at the kitchen table. Not eat until satisfied but until I do that sigh. I think everyone knows that sigh. If not wait for it the next time you eat.
Wait for the sigh. 21 days, 9 am 12.27.11 :)

Step 1 Day 1
This morning I woke up and the first thing that come to my mind is "I wish I could just go to the gym." instead I looked up classes at the gym I will be going to. Today I have work from 8:45- 12:00 pm and after I plan on having lunch and then going to the gym to activate my membership. I am actually quite excited. I mean this is the beginning!
21 days and it becomes a habit. Day 1 of going to the gym begins tomorrow morning at 9 am with my best friend Sabrina. She is pretty amazing and will make sure I bust my but to get it going. :)
21 days will be hard, and I know I will be sore, food, I mean REALLY FATTY DELICIOUS food deprived. But most important these 21 days will define my next two years. I want to improve everything about my life. I just need to take the bull by the horns.
